New new wave

At the beginning of this year, I started a podcast about music called "The New-New Wave" with some friends. It airs on JGM Radio  (a ICEI radio station) on Thursdays and Saturdays at 10 pm. If you cannot catch the live broadcast, you can also try to listen to it on Spotify, Itunes or Ivoox.

We decided to create "La Nueva-Nueva Ola" because, last year, we participated in another program about rock music only, so we felt like talking about other genres.

I must confess that it has been a big challenge. You need to do a great number of arduous tasks to bring a radio program to life (and many of them we did not know how to do them properly). You have to manage social media sites, send and reply e-mails, setup sound systems and equipment, such as microphones, mixing consoles, etc.

Despite the fact managing a radio show is a lot of work, I enjoy carrying it out. Also, it's a good way to understand how radio works and practice my "journalism skills" like being constantly updated about the latests news, how keep a conversation with an artist, etc. We were not born being good journalists, we need to work on it!

Sweet youth (Post 5)

In the picture you can see a young Cristobal drinking vodka with passion. I remember the story: I was 16 years old (2013) and my mom gave me permission to celebrate a party in my building. I invited my whole class and many people of the school. We bought a lot of drinks and we put some good old reggaeton.  Next to me, Javier, the only person in my class who was taller than me. Currently, he is in the navy. I do not see too much because he's the kind of person who forces you to drink alcohol without soda. It is really a bad practice, I felt very bad the next day. Apart from the alcohol, Javier was very intense and that intensified over time When looking for the photo for my publication, I felt a bit nostalgic for those moments. All my course separated after we finished school. I go out with many of them separately, but it's not the same. I hope that, in about 10 years, we can meet and talk about the school and its good or bad things.

MOM OF JOURNALISM

It's difficult to speak of  "experts" about journalism because journalism is about many things. However, I think if I had to recommend some book of the "eminences", I would choose one of María Olvia Mönckeberg (MOM). Mönckeberg studied journalism on PUC and worked in many projects who writed news and information against dictatorship. She have a really commitment with true and humans rights and his works are the result of an investigation carried out with dedication and seriousness.  I would recommend some of his books because they talk about really interesting topics like the owners of the newspapers, business in dictatorship, education, etc. It's a good way to learn who "cuts the cheese" in this country. The only problem with Mönckeberg is that his classes are very boring. I recommend her as a book author, not as a teacher.
